Tom Riordan
Exclara Inc., President and CEO

Tom brings to Exclara more than 25 years of experience as a semiconductor and microprocessor professional, having served as a developer, manager, and executive. Most recently, he was Vice President of PMC-Sierra's microprocessor division. Tom joined PMC-Sierra when it purchased Quantum Effect Devices (NASDAQ: QEDI), the company he co-founded in 1991. As President and CEO of QED, he guided it through three rounds of venture financing. The company went public in 2000 and Tom helped negotiate its acquisition by PMC-Sierra for $2.3 billion that same year. At that time, the company had reached a $64 million run rate with quarterly growth of 40%.

Prior to QED, Tom was director of CMOS VLSI for MIPS Computer Systems, where he led development efforts for the R4000 64-bit microprocessor and the M2000 20 mips computer system. He was the principal logic designer of the R2000 RISC microprocessor and the lead designer of the R2010 floating-point co-processor. Tom joined MIPS after serving as design engineer with both Weitek Corporation and Intel.

Tom holds a B.S. in Engineering, a B.A. in Government, and an M.S. in Engineering, all from Florida Technological University/University of Central Florida, where he was named IEEE Outstanding Senior Student. He has completed post-graduate studies in electrical engineering at Stanford. Currently Tom sits on the board of Mellanox Technologies, where he is a member of the Audit Committee.

 


Harry Rodriguez

Exclara Inc., Executive Vice President

Mr. Harry Rodriguez, co-founder of Exclara. His career spans over 15 years in Digital System Design and technical management, with focus on Digital Power Management and mixed signal design.

Mr. Rodriguez holds 5 patents, in power management, and communications. Managed and technically contributed to the world’s first production digitally controlled “single stage power factor” correcting (PFC) integrated circuit., with a proven track record of managing successful product developments.

A well-recognized engineer, Mr. Rodriguez spent the last four years in breakthrough power management digital controllers and mixed signal Integrated Circuits. He also has held management and key technical roles in several start ups: Space Computer Corporation, Turnstone Systems (public), and iWatt inc.

 


Dr. Anatoly Shteynberg

Exclara Inc., Chief Technical Officer & Board Observer

Dr. Anatoly Shteynberg, co-founder of Exclara. His distinguished career of over 30 years spans both the former Soviet Union and the United States. A recognized leader in power conversion technology, he is an author of 62 patents and 100 publications in power management.

Dr. Shteynberg is a former Vice President of R&D for Institute of Cybernetics of the USSR Academy of Sciences Moscow-Kishinev, USSR. In the USA he has held various executive and technical leadership positions: Vice President of corporate engineering for SiPEX, Director of engineering for Switched Power and iWatt inc., Technology Leadership positions in IBM, Siemens, and Ericsson. Proven management, technical, planning and budget tracking skills.

Dr Shteynberg is an expert in R&D processes and management to create cost effective designs for high volume manufacturing with extensive background in development of power conversion theory and a variety of industrial LED drivers, AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC converters and battery charges for volume production. He is also a leading Power and Packaging specialist in developing technologies to power microprocessors, mobile platforms, narrowband and broadband telecommunication systems, cold cathode lamps and solid-state lighting.

 


Eric O’Brien

Lightspeed Venture Partners, General Partner

At Lightspeed, Eric focuses on investment opportunities in digital media, datacenter infrastructure, and semiconductors. He is also the point person from the US on Lightspeed's investment efforts in China. He has nine years of venture capital experience and two years of industry experience. Previously, he worked in product management at Ciena (formerly Lightera Networks).

Prior to Ciena, Eric served as an Associate at InterWest Partners, an early-stage venture capital firm, where he focused on communications and software investments, and as an Analyst at Morgan Stanley in the telecom mergers and acquisitions group. He holds an AB magna cum laude in Economics from Harvard and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

 


Jim Diller

Lightspeed Venture Partners, General Partner

Jim is a semiconductor industry veteran with 20 years of senior management experience. Most recently Jim managed an investment fund doing angel investing in start-up companies.

Prior to his investment management role, Jim was CEO of Altos Semiconductor, a start-up company in thermal and system management, that was later sold to Micrel. He has also held various positions at National Semiconductor including Vice President of the System Products Group.

Jim holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley. Jim serves on the board of directors of Optichron, Zenasis Technologies and Mach Energy and acts as a board observer at Axiom Microdevices, Tzero and Aquantia.
